Expanding the vision...

At Point Community Church Somerset  we know there’s a desire to make the most of life in your God-given community. We invite you to come make some new friends on similar journeys. We are a church that is from the community, for the community, and to the community. This means that our church is about growing together with a purpose of making a difference in Somerset. We believe that the message of Christ is the hope for our area.

So, join us this Sunday morning at 9:30 AM at Rutgers Prep to start your journey with us. (Come early for some great food and conversation!)

Our Values

Pursuing God and truth in relevant environments.

The truth of God impacts not only what we believe, but every aspect of our lives.

1 Corinthians 9:19-23
2 Timothy 3:16-17

Serving by giving to the local community.

As the “hands and feet” of Jesus, we want to give rather than receive from the community around us.

Matthew 20:26-27
Luke 14:12-14

Developing authentic relationships as a key to spiritual growth.

Through community groups, we can better connect with other people seeking God and with God Himself.

Acts 2:42-47
1 Thessalonians 1:5
1 Thessalonians 2:8

Building a team where every member has a role.

God gives every person specific talents, abilities, and passions to serve a unique role in the church and the world.

1 Corinthians 12:12-26
1 Peter 4:10-11

Our Beliefs

About God the Father

We believe in one true God who exists in three distinct persons: the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. He is an intelligent, spiritual, and personal Being – the Creator, Redeemer, Preserver, and Ruler of the universe. God is infinite in holiness, power, knowledge and all other perfections. To Him we owe the highest love, reverence, and obedience.

Acts 17:24-28
1 Timothy 1:17
1 Corinthians 8:6

About Jesus

We believe Jesus is the perfect, eternal Son of God who came to reveal God to man and provide reconciliation with God to mankind. He was conceived of the Holy Spirit, born of the virgin Mary, lived a perfect life, died on a cross, rose from the dead, and now sits at the right hand of the Father. He is the living Lord and Savior to all who accept his free gift of salvation.

John 1:1-18
2 Corinthians 5:17-21
Galatians 4:4-7

About the Holy Spirit

The Holy Spirit has come into the world to reveal and glorify Christ and to apply the saving work of Christ to men. He convicts and draws sinners to Christ, imparts new life to them, continually dwells within them from the moment of spiritual rebirth, and guides them. His goodness and power are evident in the believer’s daily life of faith.

John 16:8-11
2 Corinthians 3:6
Romans 8:9
Ephesians 5:18

About the Bible

We believe the Bible is the inspired and authoritative word of God, written through men as guided by the Spirit of God. Therefore, the Bible is 100% truth without error, giving us God’s direction for this life and eternity.

2 Timothy 3:14-17
2 Peter 1:19-21

About Humanity

We believe all mankind was created in God’s image to have a relationship with God, the Creator, but that mankind has broken this relationship due to sinful disobedience. Mankind cannot reconcile this relationship on his own.

Genesis 1:26-28
Acts 17:24-28
Romans 3:23

About Salvation

We believe that Jesus’ sacrifice on the cross and His resurrection provides the sole solution for mankind’s separation from God. Salvation occurs only when we have accepted through faith what Jesus did on the cross to repair this separation between God and us.

John 1:1-18
2 Corinthians 5:17-21
Galatians 4:4-7

About the Christian Life

We believe that every Christian’s ultimate purpose is to live for the glory of God. This occurs as we grow in intimacy with God through prayer, His written word, Christian fellowship, and living obediently and responsively to Him.

John 15:1-5
2 Corinthians 5:14-21

About the Church

We believe the church is the body of Christ with Jesus Christ as the head. We believe every local church should be self-governing and independent from any denominational control. Each church determines its own strategy, structure, and style. The purpose of the church is to worship God and make Him known to the world and to love others as Jesus Christ loves us.

Ephesians 4:11-16
1 Corinthians 12:12-31
